Airlines Hotel

Having received strong recommendations from ‘born-and-brought up-in-b’lore’ friends, we finally work up early enough to land up on time for breakfast.

One of the oldest hotels in Bangalore-Airlines Hotel- opens at 6 AM for breakfast and is a famous drive in place. We found that it is a pitstop for all the morning walkers and joggers to stop by and take a breather and talk life, politics, anything over a cup of coffee.

The menu for breakfast is sparse with a universal fare of idli , dosa, vada, upma, dahi vada and Poori. We dug into masala dosas, vada and idli and polished it off with a coffee.
Well, the dosa was very oily and the idli was salty. Vada was not too bad. Coffee was ordinary and nothing great to write home about. The open air feel was the only saving grace. The wash basin hooked onto the ancient tree trunk was interesting. The waiters were indifferent. The ‘South Indian’ set for lunch and the total lack of enthusiasm of the waiter when talking about it, will make us think twice before dropping in for lunch.

Go there if you just want to spend some time in this city without spending too much.

The Corner House next door may amuse those who just want to chill out on a hot summer afternoon.
Located off Lavelle road.

Hard Rock café…

Finally opens in namma bengaluru!! Now this place is crowded anytime of the week! So better reserve your table well in advance or you would be kept waiting. The wait may make you wander into the Souvenir shop and you may even end up burning a hole in your pocket if you fancy the over-priced t-shirts and angry looking teddy bears.

Now once you manage to catch the table you get adrenalined by the music and the staff there who keep the place alive with their ‘red-bull type energy’!The food menu looks awesome with a lot of starters , side servings and cheesy burgers!! We decided to order the JUMBO combo veg starter which was a treat to watch!! Meant to be eaten by 2-3 people this starter had fried onion rings, veg rolls, potato skin fried and pita bread with hummus.. all this with a lavish helping of mayonnaise. The so called starter priced at Rs 380 is a good evening snack and even a decent meal if one is not very hungry!! This place also enthralls you with its “wall hangings” that are collectables from all over the ‘hardrock music’ world.

Located in the heart of the city near Anil Kumble Circle this once just cannot be mixed. Open from dinner from 7.
Meal for two – Rs 1500

Indijoes-Church street,bangalore

Now we stumbled upon this new branch of Indijoe's-the sizzler place- on Church Street Bangalore by chance!! This ones sure a treat for most of us in Bangalore who need not travel all the way to their Airport Road/Old Madras Road branch to satisfy our craving for yummy sizzlers!
Newly opened in Church Street on 12th april '08, this fabulous place is a throwback of an American food joint with music from the 80's and red upholstery.
Now this place is famous for their sizzlers and being veggies we both start with garlic bread, and then dig into veg sizzler and veg sizzler with baked beans. These mouth watering yummy sizzlers are a treat for veggies since they have quiet a few options in veg!!(kinda rare when it comes to sizzlers!). The sizzler is veg cutlet served with rice/noodles accompanied by veggies and fries(yummy!) and is undoubtedly one of the best sizzlers available in yummy bengaluru!
The enthusiastic and "happy to help" staff described each and every dessert on the menu for us to make our pick. And finally, we picked "chocolate decadence" for dessert to polish off our perfect meal.

Our FAS(Food Ambience Service) rating out of 5:

Meal for 2-Rs 750-Rs 850
Open 7 days for lunch & dinner and located bang opposite Hotel Empire.

Happy munching!
Hey everybody!
Welcome to a blog created by a hardcore foodie (vegetarian) couple who totally love to explore the innumerable restaurants and cafes in namma Bengaluru, yummy Bengaluru!!
Married for over two years now Vinitha & Sreenesh ( that's us!) have quiet a few things in common that revolves around food, movies, books and wander lust!!
This blog is for all those people out there who enjoy the experience of fine dining but are, sometimes, subjected to..er... not so fine dining.

We all have had 'bad restaurant' days and this blog we hope would help you to err eliminate just those.

About ourselves:"Sreenesh is undoubtedly one person I love being with. He is definitely one of the honest and best critic when it comes to food and books. He's working in advertising for the past 5 years (what he feels like has been 100 years:-) " says Vinitha.

" Vinitha is the most passionate person I've met. And she's passionate about everything she does right from recruiting people ( she's a recruiter for a leading HR firm) to cooking food ( she's a darn good cook). The jokes she cracks on the different food joints we visit and the many characters we come across in the form of waiters, managers and chefs, ensures that there is never a dull moment and we have loads of fun-with or without good food."

Its our shared interest in 'mystery' and good food, that has kept us hopping from one joint to another. Many a times we've looked for a blog that reviews restaurants in the city without any hidden interest so that we knew what we were getting into. But, so far, we've found none that goes beyond a dozen restaurants. Sure, there are the 'good food guides' from Kingfisher and Times. But then, they don't have a Point of View about the restaurants or a ranking/recommendation.
This blog is our Point of View. Its our opinion on the restaurants and the cafeterias in this beautiful city. We decide what we like and what we don't. Its our voice. If you too are a foodie and have benefitted from our reviews on this blog, we're thrilled! But then, if you beg to differ, do not hesitate to write in.
Welcome aboard the yummy journey!
